About

Hi, I started out in this world as Barbara, then I became Barbie. The Barbie Doll came out and I didn't want to be a "Barbie Doll" all my life so I became Barb. I stayed Barb for many years until I wanted a fun on-line identity and I became Babs. So here I am Babs, or Barb, or Barbara.... just don't call me Barbie Doll!

My life course started in Eastern Pennsylvania near Philadelphia - I had to learn how to spell all those hard Welsh words in 2nd grade including Schuylkill River and Bala Cynwyd. I marvel that I can still pull them out of my memory banks. College years were spent in Frederick, MD near Washington DC and post college I moved to the great city of New York. What a whirling dervish of activity, life, and the arts. I still remember seeing the Alvin Ailey Dance Troop for $50 at the City Center. Boy, wish I could do that again! Work led me out of New York to Dallas TX for two years. I loved visiting New Orleans, San Antonio, and Austin but didn't stay long - had to move on.... Now I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Been here for almost 30 years and raised two off spring with a great husband but may move on again - who knows.

My mother and her three sisters shared their creative talents with me. I learned sewing, embroidery, macrame, needlepoint and knitting from these amazing ladies - all now passed on to a better place. But my creative juices come out when I lay in bed in the early morning or that short dream state before I fall to sleep at night - that is when I do my best designing. I sometimes think my mother is sitting by my side giving me that extra inspiration.

Designing and knitting the creation to life is what I love the most. Each piece I make has its own life, its own character. I hope you will stop by my shop, meander, stay a while, and send me a note if you see anything that moves your spirit.
