I am a classically trained chef who makes soap! How does that make my soap special? Because I can use my chef's palette to try out new "flavor" combinations and my baker's "tools" to make gorgeous swirls and color combinations. Try it and you will be hooked and "crave" more!
I’m Leanna. After getting a masters in Landscape Architecture and working in the field for 5 years, I found myself still dreaming of going to culinary school and learning everything there was to know about food.
So, my husband and I dropped everything and moved from Florida to New York City so that I could attend the French Culinary Institute.
We planned to stay in New York for 2 years, but we ended up staying for a little over 4 years. In that time, I worked as a butcher, a pastry cook, I worked in the finest restaurants and I also worked in very casual, homey restaurants. I learned how to age cheese, and taught others about cheese. I worked as a private chef and caterer on the side, and even took an internship at a food magazine to learn about food writing.
Then we moved back to Florida to start our family.
My food business started with baby food. It was fun to give my kids foods that I couldn’t find in traditional baby foods, like black beans, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, and kale. When my middle child was a baby, I had some other friends who were also making their own baby food. We decided to swap every few weeks so that our kids could have some variety. That was when I started concocting odd combinations, and they worked. The kids ate it up, literally, and it even tasted interesting to me.
I wanted to be able to share these food combos with everyone. And so began Baby Food Chef. That business expanded to toddler food and then to prepared meals for adults. Food for the whole family!
And then I discovered soapmaking. I feel like my culinary background has led me to this. I love using interesting natural ingredients in my soap and experimenting with different colors and scents. I am truly passionate about my product.
I have gotten an amazing response from people who use my products and they have encouraged me to get these soaps out there for all to enjoy! And I hope you do!
