Barbara O'Hare's Profile
For as long as I can remember I've crafted many objects out of a wide range of materials. Once I discovered quilting, I settled on fabric and these sock monkeys are my latest creations in fabric.
I grew up in New York (on Long Island) and moved to California in 1972, where I received a BFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1975. We moved to Berkeley in 1976 where I started my studio. I sold small quilts and quilted wall hangings in small shops in the area. I then fell in love with Raggedy Ann Dolls and started making and selling them both in stores and online.
I met someone who introduced me to the beauty and personalities of sock monkeys 9 years ago. I was hooked instantly and I have since developed my own new designs, features and accessories for them.
