Tiffany Osedra Miller's Profile
Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, I am the daughter of Caribbean immigrants from Jamaica and Antigua. The bright colors I use in my art and many of the themes I explore as a writer, invoke a Caribbean Carnival aesthetic, which is as deeply spiritual as much as it is subversive, naughty and playful. In addition, though I am primarily a self-taught artist, my influences include early to mid-20th century literature and art which featured the art of the Harlem Renaissance, the German Expressionists, the Symbolists, and the Surrealists.
I specialize in creating small format, original, one of a kind, acrylic paintings and illustrations on cotton rag paper, latex paper, watercolor paper and canvas. I also draw in pen, pencil and ink. Some of my work includes hand painted, poetic and narrative comics and cartoons such as my ongoing Caribbean Dream Carnival series, "Goatwater"…
