A little information about the owner-

My name is Samantha, I have been a shop owner on Etsy.com since December 2008. I graduated from Parson School of Design in New York City in May 2015 with an AA in fashion design and graduated from Florida State University with a bachelors in Fashion Merchandising and Product Development.
I currently work as a sweater designer at a large Junior and Missy apparel company located in NYC famous garment district. As a sweater designer I work to desig customer-right styles that are trendy and stylish for Junior customers at a mass market level. This position is exciting and I have gained a wealth of knowledge regarding trends, fashion forecasting, garment specification and technical design.

I began selling on Etsy.com when I was a freshman at Florida State University, where I majored in Fashion Merchandising and Product Development and graduated in Fall 2012.

Before I started selling on Etsy.com, I fulfilled my interests outside of my bachelors studies by interning at a local vintage store, Sickboy Vintage, and taught myself how to use a sewing machine. I was an avid thrifter and enjoyed wearing vintage clothing and mixing them with new clothing to create unique and stylish outfits. I found myself making small alterations to modernize and update my vintage clothing and soon I realized that other women and men like myself may be interested in being able to purchase modernized vintage clothing as well!

I opened Modern Vintage on Etsy and the rest is history (just check my sales history)!

During college at Florida State, I worked at a local embroidery shop where I embroidered all sorts of personal and business merchandise and operated a large industrial embroidery machine as well as smaller 1-item embroidery machines. I also worked with customers on the retail floor during this job.

In my last semester at Florida State, I did a three month long internship in New York City and the well-known Screaming Mimi's Vintage, I had an amazing experience as an intern and greatly expanded my knowledge of the vintage retail business and in identifying the styles and key garment details of each vintage decade.

Additionally, during my studies at Parsons I interned for Jill Jill Stuart (the contemporary dress line by Jill Stuart) and worked as a freelance archiving and materials assistant at Tory Burch where my most exciting task was organizing and documenting their extensive vintage closet.

I look to provide customers with the highest quality "modernized" altered vintage clothing and best customer service. I look forward to growing my shop this summer and creating new relationships with my amazing customers :)

xoxo
