Several years ago, on New Year's Day, I sat at the outside patio of my Tampa Bay neighborhood bar and grill with friends. It was sunny, it was 75 degrees and I said "I will NEVER be cold again in January. I will NEVER move back north!"
Never say never....
The following New Year's Day I was cold. REALLY cold! I was back in my hometown, outside Detroit, and I was not only cold but miserable from the lack of sunshine and itching from the artificial heat in the house that was sucking the moisture from my skin.
I decided to trick myself. I made beach scented soy candles so it would smell like the beach. I burned an ocean wave CD to make it sound like the beach. I made a shea butter lotion stick that smelled like Pina Colada so I could pretend I was putting on suntan oil while I was moisturizing my dried out winter skin. I made a mineral shimmer powder to imitate a sun-kissed glow.
