I'm involved in our towns trashion fashion show this year designing wearable art and sculptures made using nothing but found and recycled materials. My husband works at a paper mill so this should be interesting. In June, I'll add photo's of our runway piece to where I post the poms at the link below .
http://vintagefabricbouquets.blogspot.com/

I'm thinking of making postcards of some of my husband's artwork and adding them to the shop.
A comical style of their own they take on a Crumb like beauty that is painfully funny and at times too true to bare such absurd illustrations but ~ we like it and being San Francisco natives we adopted " beauty is in the eye of the beholder " a long time ago and always look forward to what the future holds in a world where there truly is an art to just about everything.

Happy unique birthday you Leap Year people.

January 2016

The milky white resin of Frankincense and the reddish color of Myrrh are finding themselves replaced with the sweet smell of raisin carrot morning muffins (a recipe from a friend) the taste of Turmeric in the air and the new year into its second day.

I have some great fabrics to work with this year. I mentioned laces, pastel's and old fashioned trims in Dec. Since then a gift from the fabric goddess's brought a bundle of fabrics where the colors and textures reach out from the sea and into the sky scooping up what a rainbows pallette leaves behind. One is a beautiful Silk blend. It is Japanese with textured dots and painted flowers. Two pieces , one in shades of blue creme and grey the other in red's. The shop's inventory will show one of each by mid month.

Thank you always to the brave brides that see a little something different in the bouquets I make.
The designs come from my own ideas and technique ~ all of the fabrics used are vintage and antique, authentic and true. Custom orders are met with excitement and for me a fun challenge to find colors and textures to match your needs ~

Happy New Year and cheers for a peace filled world with new ideas and innovative solutions !

December

Cold conditions here in the Pacific northwest are sudden and pack a punch ~ Lots of indoor activities are in store for me the next few days. A warm rainy wind is on the horizon, until then we have a few holiday venues here in this sleepy but creative town where shared spaces and a terrific cup of coffee go hand in hand ... and hand to lips !
For me fabric wreaths and ornaments it is these last few weeks before Christmas. I can focus on one textile craft at a time and with a few winter weddings in the making I've found a purpose for last seasons poms ! A wreath. Visit

Happy Holidays , Peace and Joy

November

With the bewitching hour behind us my morning has been all about sweeping up the remains of a night filled with hauntings and a heavy rain. A chaotic bliss fully came with princesses of all kinds arriving one after the other in soaked tennis shoes and frayed muddy hems with ninja turtles closely following leaving trails of candy wrappers behind ~

It is wet as all giddy up here in the pacific northwest and for me a favorite time of year. Warm enough to take the dog out in the morning and cool enough to stay in and sort through this year's fabric finds.

Lots of laces came to me this summer with some dating to the early 1900's. And while some of my favorite pieces are made up of antique threads and findings this season seems a bit playful. With that in mind I'll make some frilly doll like bouquets , light hearted with an aura of the innocent. Stay tuned for I'm taking apart my grandfather's 1950's record player console and parting it out starting with the monaural plug in cartridge head listing for 38.00 this afternoon.

other than that ~ always thank you to the brave brides and humble gift givers who see a little something in the celebration vintage fabric bouquets that I make. Each one finds the most gracious hands to land in.

October

This year has been earmarked for the 3 re's....reuse, remodel and most of all rediscover. Phase one "remodeling" is well underway allowing me "reuse" all of the wonderful vintage fabrics organized in my new "old" cedar closet. Many laces and trims have been "rediscovered" and I can't wait to use them this winter.

As the weather changes and the nights become cooler I'll settle in like a bear and have fun making new vintage fabric bouquets for my shops inventory. I have a few orders this month and have plenty of terrific vintage supplies for more ~ ( hint hint )

Thanks again and always to the brave brides that see a little something in the vintage fabric poms I make and make a connection. Cheers to individuality and to the art that is in everything we do !

If you'd like to have a bouquet made for you a friend or for your home this holiday season feel free to write. The bouquets take 2 - 3 weeks to make this time of year and I'm always happy to make a deal on bouquets already made in the shop.

September

Love this time of year ~
Fall is an inspirational time of year with reflections and the holidays ~ a little busier yet quiet. Dry weather has been really something else here in Pacific Northwest and I think everyone is looking forward to a little green with cooler days.

The fabric gods have been good to me this summer with rich colors and pieces that i'm looking forward to using. The poms have made their way to The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy this year ~ I thank the brave brides who go off the garden path and venture into the land of textiles to use in their celebrations. Small but mighty the pom styled bouquets I make seem to always fall into the right hands.

Cheers to individuality !

August

A beautiful day here in the pacific northwest with our triple digits finally subsiding into the 90's. My heart and support go out to the the people who have been in the cross of fire storms here and our neighboring state of California. It's been Hot cha cha !!

The blue moon and the pink skies have been vying for attention and have equally gotten lots of it ! The photo's around the world showing shots of the moon have been spectacular.

The last order of fabric bouquets for the month of July have been sent with gracious reviews. I'm grateful and welcome more brave brides.

I'll start to list the colors of fall with the sunsets of an indian summer in mind. If like me you like oranges and pinks , reds browns and shades in purple together you might like some of the bouquet ideas I have for the next few months ~ Also I'm working on cards for the holidays. It's a * surprise * ...

Have fun and stay as cool as a cucumber ~ mmmm gazpacho comes to mind

Cucumber Basil Avocado Gazpacho

1 perfectly ripe avocado
1 cucumber: skin left on, seeds removed
2 small handfuls fresh basil
1 clove garlic
2 scallions, green and whites both
2 cups water
1 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Juice of 1 lime
Refrigerate all the ingredients until they are quite cold. Place the chilled ingredients into a blender and purée until smooth, allowing a few specks of green to remain throughout. Return the soup to the refrigerator and chill again until it is ready to be served.

Garnish with thinly sliced cucumber circles and basil leaves.

July

Festivals , farmers markets , music in the park ~*~ Summer has officially started !!

The heat has hit Oregon and I see the berries coming in and up beautifully. A neighbor has a lovely garden filled with amazing veggies and with patience on their side the three year wait for asparagus has paid off. The shared stalks have been heavenly !

I haven't come across a bunch of one thing yet this summer to put in the shop tho I still have a few of the wonderful mother load of gloves I got this last winter. Most have found homes all over the world.

I'm working on a light blue vintage fabric bouquet today that will join the inventory tomorrow or the next. Several custom orders have shipped this week and the brave brides that have given me creative license to you I tip my hat in appreciation.

Clink Clink and Cheers to happy journey's.

June

These beautiful late sunsets are the aftermath of a night where a spectacular lightening storm was followed by the thunders above. Truly amazing to the senses. If you lack in one , others heighten and while the air is wet, its warm enough to sit out on the porch and watch the last of a day.

As handmade is getting a little harder to keep its integrity with the box stores labeling their cheap products handmade I appreciate etsy's commitment to individuality and to the buyers that see through the hype ~

I'll continue to list terrific vintage items and bouquets this month . I have this great piece of fabric to share ... but a small piece is going to an upcoming bride .... so I'll keep you posted with a photo of the little gem in a few weeks. I'll have enough to make 5 - 7 bouquets with it. .... hee hee ...so cruel. ... here is a hint ... it dates 1950's and is chick yellow.

April

April started without me so it seems ~ Like the Pierrot who was the center of pranks the 1st of the month had me jumping over the cracks in the sidewalk and wiping the egg from my face ~*~.
I lost The Theory of Everything movie rented from the red box leaving me with The Theory of Nothing ~ my grocery bill came to 666 and my faithful companion of an Alaskan Husky took off running after a Canadian Goose. And so the chase for April was on.

Today is the 4th and the day of " Passing Over " placed me back on my contemplating self track ! My dog has returned with not a feather in sight and well.... I'm hoping someone returns the DVD after watching it on the house. All in all its all good ~*~ Spring has sprung in the west and I'm thankful for the life I lead.

The gloves I spoke of last month are selling and a new series of vintage fabric bouquet that I make are coming along nicely, the colors are summery and the fabrics used are sheer and lighthearted. I'll list two or three this up coming week.

Thank you always to the brave brides that have chosen to use my fabric bouquets in their happy celebrations. I appreciate playing a small though mighty sentimental part in your journey together. Until May.....
Cheers to good times !

March

We can't ask for better weather here in the Pacific Northwest this first week in March. I'm hoping spring comes on time if not sooner for so many people in the US crippled with such cold weather for so many days. Hopefully the powers that be have let you scroll through Etsy while in safe and warm

I was blessed with a really nice box of gloves this month. I'll be listing them throughout spring. All leather some have beautiful cuts , rhinestones , lattice embroidery in interesting colors like blue and a pair of rich burnt orange. Beautiful for weddings and parties.

Other than that I'm always making vintage fabric bouquets and listing them once a week. Vintage items are added daily and custom orders are always welcome. The turn around this time of year is 3 - 4 weeks. If you need a rush bouquet or two let me know and I'm happy to make room for you. Larger orders 3 - 4 weeks is a good amount of time to get them completed and shipped. Remember shipping abroad can take up to a month for arrival and I've noticed The Netherlands and Italy seem to take up to 6 weeks at times.

Have a fun day !

February

Spring and Summer orders are coming in ~ the themes have a winning formula with carnivals and the circus leading the way ! Creativity is in the air and the vintage fabric gods have been good to me thus far ~ Prints and stripes , sheers , crinolines, lace and wonderfully thick cotton have settled into last years renovated ceder closet ~

I keep one eye open and a buck in my in pocket in case I see a deal and a challenge to breath new life into a surviving piece of something that has its admirer out there. It's what keeps us individualized. The vast land of vintage is a wonderful place and its fun to create " upcycled " art (for me fabric ) as well keep supplies circulating.

I've come across so much creativity in this lifetime I can only imagine the trend will grow into another year of terrific artists here on etsy !

January

Cheers to the new year ! I hope the world has treated you kindly thus far :)

Walking my dog in the cold with a cup of most excellent coffee got me on my way this morning. Deep in thought, I forgot that I had treats in my pocket and my loyal girl couldn't figure out the New' Year's hoopla when she couldn't get to a simple treat .

I've started listing some pretty things this morning ~ more to come. Finishing orders for special vintage fabric bouquets is wrapping up ~ and a new line of terrific fabrics will start coming out from the ceder woodwork for a new year of vintage fabric bouquet making.

Thanks again to the brave brides placing custom orders this year ~ you truly hold a special place in my h e a r t .

Happy New Year !
