About

Whether I was decorating sugar cookies for my daughters’ bake-sales, making cards for loved ones, sewing clothes and quilts, or knitting and crocheting garments, rugs and blankets, creating beautiful (and sometimes delicious) objects has always been an important part of who I am.

I am obsessed with recycling and repurposing of common materials. Sometimes I am inspired by an old garden hose, even if it does drive my husband crazy that every nook and cranny of the house is full of objects that don't appear immediately useful. (And what would I do if I needed an old hose that I had just gotten rid of like a 'normal' person?!?). Besides, I sort of make up for it when he gets to come with me to the hardware store for supplies.

My husband is also partly responsible for the beautiful, hand-turned pens and hair-sticks I make. We took a wood turning class together so we would have a joint hobby that would provide us with some quality time in the workshop. I quickly became as obsessed with the lathe as I am with my recycled projects. The natural beauty of the wood and the simple, classic designs it is possible to create on the lathe really speak to my aesthetic.

I love classic lines, bright colors, and geometric shapes. I like art that is clean and bold. I usually prefer simple designs that have an immediate impact. I also like art that is quirky or that makes me laugh.

Creating makes me feel content, fulfilled and useful. I love to give my creations as gifts as well as to use and enjoy them myself. My Etsy shop is an extension of my desire to share my creativity with a wider audience. It is also the result of the continued pressure from my daughters to, "really sell some of the stuff you make, Mom; it's so cool." The turning point, which leads to actually opening this shop, was the day my husband came up behind me and said, “When are you going to stop shopping (on Etsy) and start selling?!” Here I am.
