About

I have loved being out in the woods since I was little. I grew up in rural Missouri and have always been an outdoors type of person. Most of my memories from childhood involve playing out in the woods and meadows around my house. I could always entertain myself out there. From climbing trees to catching crawdads in the creek, I was happy when I was out in nature.

Now that I'm grown I still love being outside. Whenever I feel the stresses of life closing in on me all I have to do to find peace and relaxation is to walk out into the woods.

I have enjoyed making things from wood every since a child as well. I can still remember being barely taller than the table on my dad's bandsaw and still cutting out patterns in any wood I could find.

I remember dragging wood up the side a pond to make a raft-which sunk as soon as I climbed on! Lean-tos to camp under when it rained, forts, bridges-if I could imagine it I would try to build it.

My interest in carving came a little later in life. I never saw myself as an artist growing up, but now that I've stepped in to this great world of carving, I wish I had started earlier. There is just so much to be carved in the short time we get to walk this earth! So many wasted trees going to the burn pile after being bulldozed over to make that pond, house or shopping center. But, I'm here to carve for the long term and I'm going to give it my best!
