I am a lampwork bead artist which basically means that I make glass beads by melting glass rods with a torch and winding the molten glass around a mandrel. I sometimes shape beads in the flame using graphite or brass tools. Designs such as dots and stripes are added with glass stringers (hand pulled strings of glass) or twisties (different colors of class that are twisted and pulled together into a stringer).
Quite by accident my area of concentration has become Pet Memorial Beads. These beads are made by encasing the cremation ashes of a pet within the glass. The beads turn out just beautiful and hold special meaning for my pet owner customers. It is very rewarding to be able make these beads for my customers.
All of my glass lampwork beads are handmade one by one by me in the flame of my minor torch using Moretti, TAG104 and Double Helix glass rods. My…
