Liz's Profile

About

I am a costume designer for a small contemporary ballet company, and occasionally for outside theatre or opera projects that come up. As a designer, I've committed myself to fair, ethical, and environmentally sound sourcing for items as much as possible. I'd rather pay a bit more and have leggings dyed or earrings made by the small business owners of Etsy; get a fine piece of vintage clothing that has already lasted a good long time and has the quality to endure repairs or alterations; or get a well-crafted new garment when I don't have the time to make something myself.

I love a challenge. I love whimsy, and vintage, and, I admit it, cute fuzzy animals. I've worked as a mid-19th century reenactor, so there's a part of me that adores bloomers. And another part of me that can't seem to resist mid-century Scandinavian design.
