About

Welcome to Black Sheep Designs! I have been creating unique jewelry for 19 years and work from a studio in Pawtucket, RI. I am also mom to a 14-year-old daughter and two sons - ages 11 and 7. During the day, I'm a librarian in an urban high school.

Many people ask how I chose my business name - there are two reasons. I try to create jewelry that's unusual and distinctive... and I'm also the only person in my immediate family who didn't embark on a career in the medical field - the "black sheep".

I'm constantly searching for distinctive vintage beads, antiquities, old tokens and other artifacts - my designs change frequently, and many are one of a kind. Custom orders are welcome - feel free to contact me if you would like me to make something special for you.

I hand-alter all of the pieces in my "patina" jewelry and seal the patina finish for protection. My wire twisting features double- and triple-wraps for security (and beauty!)

My husband, Jay, hand-smiths most of the ear wires that I use. Each earring hook is created from raw brass and raw copper wire that is shaped, sanded, hammered, torched and tumbled. If you prefer leverback wires or need to use clip findings, I am glad to switch the earring findings to one of these choices - just convo me for details.

I take great care to craft my pieces for durability and I completely guarantee everything I create - I offer free replacement if the item has been recently purchased, and free repair for as long as you own one of my pieces.

My sister shop, blacksheepsalvage.etsy.com , offers unique vintage items and jewelry supplies.

I sell my creations at many art/craft shows in the New England area. If you'd like to be added to my mailing list, just send me a convo. I add dates to my show schedule as I confirm them. In March and December, I have an open studio weekend for spring and holiday shopping.
