"Creating keeps you forever young! ":

"I've been creating art all of my life. When I was a child I would try to draw people I knew, from their photographs. After raising a family, I finally started having time on my hands to do what I wanted to do, and began painting seriously in 1990. Most of my early experience had been with oil portraits. I know what you're thinking.... oil painting is a strange thing to start with, but I still feel that it is the easiest medium to use. If I make a mistake I can wipe it off and fix it.

It all started with a painting of my baby granddaughter who is now in her early 20's. That grew into quite a little business, painting babies and brides, etc. Then I was fortunate to have been commissioned by many of the NASCAR race drivers and team owners to paint portraits of them and their race cars and trophies. Many of them are also avid hunters commissioned me to paint them with their animals. In between portraits, I began painting still-lifes and landscapes, still using oil, and then to abstracts using acrylics.

In the 80's and 90's, we had a cabin on the Susquehanna river which we went to on weekends, so I started painting with watercolors because it was easy to take with me. We had just purchased a brand new home and I wanted a decor with a Victorian flavor and lots of flowers. With my love for flowers and shoes I started joyfully painting whimsical "Flower Shoes" in watercolors. I have sold these on-line for 15 years both nationally and internationally. In some of these paintings I have included a Series of Ballroom Dancing Shoes, and Monkey Flower Shoes, and Animal Print Flower Shoes. I've painted hundreds of Flower Shoes and sometimes run out of ideas. I'm always happy to get special requests from people, like painting a shoe that matches a bride's bouquet or a husband and wife's birth flowers together in one shoe. Birthday flowers make a great gift. All of the approx. 275 prints available can be made into Note Cards that I personalize for customers.

I had the honor of being asked by Walt Disney Epcot Center to sell my "Flower Shoe" paintings at their yearly Flower and Garden Festival. That was a thrill.

I recently opened my own .com website by the same name I use on Etsy, and have been working hard at that in between painting.

So my brief message to all of you on Etsy who create these beautiful things I see here, is "Never stop, you make the world a more beautiful place, while you're here".
