About

I’m Beverly of B Spana Funktional Art and I graciously thank you for visiting to peruse my inventory of Funktional Art. Note of importance: All of the painted glassware is dishwasher safe.

My first rule of thumb comes from something I read that has stuck with me in my artisitic endeavor and in life in general and that is “If you’re going to do something impulsive, don’t over-think it!” It takes the fun out of the impulse. When I start painting, I’m not starting all of the time with an idea in my head. I choose an item to paint, pick my colors and then go for it.

What usually starts as something normal ends up vibrant and whimsical but still useful.

I only started doing my art around 1997 and I confess, with no formal art education that I am self taught and while I have taken some informal art instruction, I’ve found that I have a good eye for color, which seems to be the key in what I paint and sell.

I’ve lived in Florida, essentially, my entire life, moving here at the age of 11 with my family and growing up on the beaches of Sarasota County and now living in Souhwest Florida. I have been married for many years and have an undying affection for animals, most inparticular dogs. In addition to my art, I am heavily involved as the Treasurer with a non-profit organization called “Footsteps to the Future” which is a program that mentors young women in and aging out of foster care. Also I am Treasurer of the National League of American Pen Women Southwest Florida Branch.

There are many different categoroies to choose from, so be sure to check all of them.

If you have any questions you can e-mail them to me and I would be most happy to ablige with an answer.
