About

The dresses were made to make you imagine. I like to take something mainstream and accepted and twist it. They represent youth and adventures, but were inspired by women with confidence, experience, and wisdom. There is a sense of wildness in the cocktail dresses, something striking. They have spark, gumption, energy, defiance, and life. They create an inner sense of power and capability. The dresses are not supposed to be perfect or just “cute”. Women want to look how they feel deep down, and I believe within every woman is a fierce strength and a raw attractiveness. I want these dresses to make a woman reconnect with that part of her that is below the surface.

Natural and man-made shapes inspire me. I love lines, how they curve and connect, fold and become deeper and then thinner. I like the way fabric folds across the body and joins into seams. I love how silk smells…

I love how silk smells when you iron it. I love how fabric moves when you wear it; whether it bounces, flutters, reveals, twists, flows, ripples, or is sturdy and makes you stand up a little straighter. I love the shadows that each fold makes, creating depth. All of that goes into the design and the person makes it real, living.

I started this line out of my need to create a dress that makes your heart flutter to think about. While I have designed all categories in a woman’s closet, my favorite and by far my best category is the cocktail dress. It came to be when, after being frustrated with my own meager collection of party dresses, I wanted to start making frocks that I’d be excited to wear. I love hearing from my husband how great I look, and that is part of my inspiration.

The label is named after myself because I stand by my work, and there is so much of me in it.

I source my fabrics mainly in Los Angeles and I prefer to use natural fabrics, like silk, cupro, rayon, cotton, and linen. I frequently use surplus fabrics. My process: you have to really get to know the fabric you are working with. It usually dictates the type of dress you can make and you take it from there. Each dress can take from 1-3 weeks to finalize, as I do all the patterns as well. The most difficult step is letting go of an idea that you love but isn’t working out.

A few facts about me:
I recycle like crazy (and nag friends about it), I love taking the bus, I reuse paper for patterns, I donate monthly to Greenpeace, and I’m the official “light left on” tyrant of the house. I won’t tout myself as a 100% eco friendly person or designer, since I’m not, but I will say that I approach my business practices in that frame of mind.
Born in rainy Seattle, Washington, brought to sunny Los Angeles in 1992.
I'm Christian and I have faith God can help me through any challenge.
I’m a proud graduate of USC, 2004 and LA Trade-Technical College, 2006.
My hobbies include reading, dancing to the Rolling Stones, bicycling in the hood, volunteer work, walking my dog, and cooking Mexican food with my husband.
