My favorite gifts are the ones where someone has taken the time to make it for me. This is also my favorite way to show someone they are special—putting the care into making something beautiful and being thoughtful about each detail.

I grew up showing my mom just what kind of Barbie doll clothes I wanted her to make me for Christmas. I picked scraps from dresses my mom had made me or scraps from my grandmother’s fabric. I picked out just the right trims and gave them the perfect placement. I also loved exploring mom’s collection of old buttons to find what most resembled dinnerware useful for my Barbies. I would then cut out and color eggs and strips of bacon for one plate while cutting out toast for another. I spent my playtime designing and decorating.

I have much appreciation for old things…the story of the life it lived and the character it developed along the way…the time that went into making it and the quality of work.
I cherish the things of my grandmothers and wonder how much I’m like them. To no surprise I discovered a love of thrift stores and flea markets.

My designs are a result of skills passed down to me, and things I’ve learned through art school and fashion classes often displaying a vintage influence.
