Hello Dearies! Come sit for a spell won't you?
My name is Jeannine, artist and owner of By Way of Salem.
My favorite holiday is Halloween! My favorite characters to create are witches, hags, pumpkins, ghosts, monsters, or anything else that might go bump in the night! I also love Winter and Christmas so you'll find plenty of snowmen and angels too. Did I mention bunnies? Love them!

I love to paint, sculpt, stitch - just about anything to do with crafts. My style ranges from quirky and whimsical to folk, prim, or French Country, and everything in between. You might see witches, quilts, bunnies, pumpkins, tole painted wood Christmas ornaments, garden items, stitcheries, or anything else I might fancy!

BY WAY OF SALEM signature pieces are my one-of-a-kind sculptures. They are created from various types of clay and/or…

BY WAY OF SALEM signature pieces are my one-of-a-kind sculptures. They are created from various types of clay and/or papier mache, and come signed by the artist (me!) and numbered. None will be reproduced. I have many fans who are collecting my pieces now and I'm very proud of that!

Aside from my quirky sculptures, I have a series called "Woodland Winter"; they are adorable pumpkin forest-folk, and every year I add more pieces. Watch for them!

All of my art is created by me, then handpainted which means lots of hours and love goes into each piece, with attention to quality and detail. I giggle, chortle, and guffaw to myself, as each character comes to life. I hope they give you a giggle, too!

A bit about me: I've been an artist since childhood. My mother encouraged me to be creative, buying me crayons, paints, paper, glitter, etc., every birthday and Christmas. I think that was a definite influence on my love of crafting. Aside from By Way of Salem, I worked as a production artist for many years painting full size carousel horses for several companies, and also a line of clown statues. I've done many craft and art shows with my items through the years. Additionally I had a really cute t-shirt item out on the market called "Paint Your Own T-Shirt Kit".

On a personal note; I have 2 horses; 1 chestnut Arabian and 1 black Arabian, 4 dogs and 2 cats. I love all my animals and try to spend a lot of time with them, which can present a challenge making more new things from time to time. Don't be surprised if you see horse things in the future - you never know!

I love to garden; planting herbs and lavender are my favorites. I also love interior design, going to flea markets and junking, repurposing, and home remodeling.

Just this April we relocated from Auburn, Washington where we lived for 18 years to Lewisburg, Tennessee. I'm a southern belle now! We love it here and I know it's a great place to be even more creative.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Check back often to see what's new!
