James Mann's Profile

About

Over the course of a 12-year career as a director and cinematographer, I've crawled through a network of underground tunnels to shoot inside of an ancient Irish burial mound, dodged land mines to photograph the ruins of war in the Golan Heights, and rebuilt abandoned homesteads in the Mojave Desert to shoot my feature film, Desert Son.

My recent work focuses on telling the stories of people who have revived craft heritage by putting a new twist on old materials and traditions. In addition to creating films and other branded content for artists, musicians, and craftspeople, I've also been working on a documentary photography project exploring the landscapes and abandoned architecture of the California High Desert.
