Cannon Montague's Profile
Cannon Montague is a naturalistic, figurative sculptor whose work is not only deeply influenced by the classical traditions of Ancient Greece and the Italian Renaissance, but also twentieth century Modernism. After intense training in Sculpture at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, she awakened to a deeper comprehension of the power and nobility of the human form and its spiritual expression.
She attended Tulane University and graduated with a degree in Art History from Middlebury College. After studying plein air painting with renowned southern artist Frank Baisden, she concentrated on painting for years, studied in Paris, sold many paintings, but often wondered about her artistic direction and focus.
