Carol Varin
From my earliest childhood in Rhode Island I always enjoyed artistic pursuits. Anytime we had clams for supper I was painting the clam shells the next day. My mother got recycled cardboard from a local business and I spent a lot of time coloring on cardboard with my beloved 64 color box of crayons. Later came embroidery, knitting, sewing, tie dye, etc. I attended the Rhode Island School of Design and received an imagination stretching education.
As a young adult I moved to rural Beddington, Maine with my husband Ron. Since then I have become immersed in the natural world with farming and gardening. I discovered wreath making as a way to combine gardening and wild gathering with creative design. As a Washington County, Maine wild blueberry farm, making jam was a no brainer. Over time we have established other fruits in our gardens to vary our jam flavors.
