Acrylic Artist. I am a self -taught artist and prefer realism and am a bit of a historian.I am from Ringgold, Ga which is a small town just south of Chattanooga, Tn . I love painting pictures that preserve the past. I paint with mainly acrylic, but also love to do pencil drawings. I have approximately 65 paintings that have gone to print. I have always dabbled with my talent and consider it a gift. In 2000, I decided to pursue a career in art. I began to explore several styles and have settled into Realism Painting. “ I enjoy Realism because I like to recreate things the way they are. I like to bring the viewer as close to being there as possible. “ My technique allows me to specialize in several fields, including landscapes and portraits.

I was commissioned to do custom paintings for Colonel Ronnie Bowman – former Commissioner of Public Safety of Georgia , Steve Wilson – Walker County Sheriff, Tina and Logan Lanier – Walker County Deputy Sheriff and Warden of the Walker Correctional Institute, and several other prominent people. “ I enjoy doing custom paintings for people. It is a joy to see their faces when I hand them a painting of their children, grandchildren or their homeplace. These paintings will hold their special memories indefinitely. They often become family heirlooms. It is a wonderful gift to be a part of that. “
I have received letters from George Pataki – Governor of New York, Nathan Deal and Max Cleland – United States Congressmen, and George W. Bush – President of the United States ; all these letters have been compliments regarding my painting " We Will Never Forget – September 11, 2001."
My work has been shown in United States Capitol, Georgia State Capitol , and is currently displayed in numerous government buildings and private households. I have been commissioned by several government agencies to do murals and have been the illustrator on several books , however my greatest enjoyment comes from painting what I choose . I prefer to work with acrylics on stretched canvas, I paint entirely freehand. If I have a photograph to refer to , I can add so much more detail , but have to catch myself , sometimes I add way to much detail. On the landscapes , I like to start at the farthest point back and work my way forward , I feel this gives it a layered look that creates a 3D effect. My paintings look much better when illuminated by a direct light source, ,this helps to bring the detail to life. I enjoy the research that a painting requires and I enjoy photographing my subjects . I love to do Art Festivals and Arts and Craft Shows and sell in several galleries and other venues. My work has mainly been shown in the South Eastern United States, but I plan to expand this area in the near future .

I am a mother of three and grandmother of a precious granddaughter (2 month old Katie-Ann). I also work in Public service as a 911 dispatcher and have a 10 yr old Autistic son. My painting is a major stress releiver, that I enjoy very much . I love the outdoors that is why my husband and I are cub scout leaders. We love to camp, canoe, kayak and anything outdoors. I also love to paint outdoors. There is so much natural beauty around us, if you take the time to look.
