My husband would tell you I'm obsessed with fabric. I think he may be right! I especially love vintage fabric, but in my shop I also offer a wide range of not-so-vintage fabrics including cotton quilting fabrics by the yard, linens, wools, rayons, some silks and a variety of synthetic fabrics as well.

I love the thrill of searching through thrift store bins and garage sale boxes to find the many beautiful textiles which are passed on to you. Yet I am amazed at how much fabric is still out there carefully…

Yet I am amazed at how much fabric is still out there carefully hidden away in someone's closet or attic. I know this because of the stories I hear, mostly from women, about their own special collections they are not yet ready to part with. Each piece no doubt inspired them at one time with creative ideas for its use. But the fabrics I am fortunate enough to acquire represent dreams that never materialized (no pun intended) and I see it as a privilege to pass them on to become part of someone else's dreams and, hopefully, reality.

One particularly memorable "score" was from a woman who had 3 rooms worth of accumulated fabric which her daughter had been pushing her to get rid of. While I was in heaven searching through her amazing stash, I could sense her sadness at seeing it go. This wasn't just fabric to her. It was a big pile of dreams unfulfilled, creative ideas that never came to fruition. I felt a bit of guilt taking this from her, a kindred fabric lover, knowing how difficult it must have been. But as she is embarking on a new adventure in her own life, these fabrics will become part of someone else's creative adventure. I hope she will take solace knowing the joy they will bring to others...
