My name is Laura Bartlett.I've been creating art since I had my first art show at the age of 5. Crayola never looked better on my Grandma's dining room wallpaper. She said I would grow up to be an artist.
I taught art in public school for a while, but quit to pursue my art I've been making dolls for several years. A documentary on Ray Harryhausen helped me develop my dollmaking technique of working from the inside out on my pieces. I create a wire armature, wrap it with yarn, build up the muscles with batting and skin the piece by hand sewing fabric over the surface. My jewelry is made by beading over covered cord.
I have minor cerebral palsy that affects my right hand and leg so I had to come up with a way to work somewhat one handed.I can hold things in my right hand but that's about it. I use handcast resin eyes in both…
