When I was a teen age girl, my mom made me do the dusting. She had a house full of knick knacks and collectibles as well as antiques. It was a job I hated to do. Carefully, I lifted each one, dusted it and put it back on the shelf or table, all the while saying to myself, "I will never have this kind of junk in my house when I get married" All I wanted was clean, uncluttered space, so I chose Danish Modern for my fiirst home. One day a friend asked me to go with her to a mall I had not ever been to, it was in another town. When we got there, they were having an Antique Show. As we walked past tables laden with crystal, china, pottery, dolls and linens I noticed something. Looking at my friend, I said in astonishment, my Mom has things like these in her home. Then I noticed the prices, they were astronomical. I began right then to develop an appreciation for collecting and the possibility of being able to actually sell them. It was not long before I had a little shop filled with a lot of those chachkys that I hated to dust. It was after my second baby and I was no longer working in an office, that I decided I could make a living at this. Then Our world collapsed. My husband had an accident and was disabled, I had to support the family. We moved to Florida, I went to work at AT&T and was there for 20 years. When I retired I began a custom design cake business. My specialty is wedding and special occasion cakes, cookies and chocolates. Etsy came into my life when a member of my cake club said she has a store where she sells her photography on line. I investigated, became interested and decided to open a shop to sell off some of the things I had in storage, that I brought with me to Florida when we moved. To make a very long story a bit shorter, I hope to build this store and have all the hard work and time I spend on it make it all worth while. It is fun and work at the same time.
