About

I love making things. I love the focus, the preoccupation and the process. Everything I create is hand-crafted in my home studio in Northern California where I am surrounded by redwood trees, nature and wildlife - all of which have influenced me in designing simple, elegant pieces that reflect the quiet, calm beauty of the natural world.

My pottery is slab built, wheel thrown and/or cast from original molds. Many pieces are a combination of at least two of these processes. The glazes are hand-mixed in my studio and are designed to be beautiful, durable and easy to care for. All pieces are high-fired in an electric kiln. Except for items with bamboo handles, all pieces are oven and dishwasher safe. The items with bamboo handles are functional and durable but should be hand-washed.

I love the time spent around the table with family and friends. The connections and the conversations create wonderful memories. Now that my kids are grown and on their own, those times are more precious than ever. Making tableware is how I got involved in clay in the first place - I had this dream to make my own dishes. It took some persistence but I eventually did it and really never looked back. I just kept making tableware and soon my pieces were decorating other people's tables and family gatherings as well. I am always delighted when someone takes the time to drop me a note or come by my booth at a show to tell me how much they enjoy using my tableware. That's why I continue to make it.

"There are no happier people on this planet than those who decide that they want something, define what they want, get hold of the feeling of it even before it's manifestation, and then joyously watch the unfolding, as piece by piece, by piece it begins to unfold. That's the feeling of your hands in the clay."
