About

I've always been a creator. I started painting, cutting out images, and decoupaging when I was 9 or 10. My mother gave me the closet at the top of the stairs that had a little window in our midwest Victorian home for me to enter my magical decoupage world. I would often stay up till late into the night painting, cutting, and brushing layer upon layer of lacquer in that stuffy, little room. Time didn't exist, only what I was creating. I was in heaven being in that room creating, creating, creating.

I gave everyone decoupage key chains, meaningful plaques, and boxes for birthday and Christmas presents. I still love to make most of the gifts I give. They mean something and are treasured for a long time.

When I was 27, I moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and inspired by the quality of the light, the color of the earth, and the amazing community of artists, I began painting abstracts. Now I'm combining abstract work with mixed media collage. I cut out paper images by hand, they're not digitally composed. I go step by step, not knowing what the next movement will be, trusting that everything is coming from deep within.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my work! I really love what I do.
Enjoy!

All good things,
Chini
