“I was born into a family of artists, musicians and crafters. My father had a beautiful voice but, since I could not carry a tune, I turned to my mother’s talent and found the artist in me. While the other girls were taking ballet lessons, I was taking painting lessons. My weekends spent with my grandparents were always filled with sewing and baking with my grandmother, as well as painting with my grandfather. In my late teens my grandmother opened up a little shop in the basement – everyone in the family was involved. My grandfather made the wooden dolls and painted their faces while my grandmother made their clothes, quilts and all things that involved a sewing machine. My mother, sister, aunt and two great-aunts were also involved - sewing, knitting, crocheting and hot-gluing something. It was a booming business for a little shop in a basement. Since I was not very good at the sewing machine, I found my "voice" in jewelry design."
