Cindy Sowers' Profile

About

I have been making things for people all my life. I have been making dolls and clothing since I was 11 years old, when I got my first sewing machine. My first handmade doll was a Holly Hobbie doll. My first handmade clothing piece was a tee shirt, with each piece a different fabric.

My background includes college courses in design, draping and pattern drafting, millinery courses, drawing and painting courses, working behind the scenes at fashion runway shows, and writing copy for fashion advertising.

In in the 1990s I had a small millinery business in Seattle. I then had an art quilt business until 2000, when I began making original cloth dolls. From there I went to plastic dolls and couture for dolls.

I have added a couture for humans shop now, because I guess I just keep going. I think it keeps me young.
