Claire Payne's Profile

About

Hi there! My name is Claire and I love to craft.

Since being very small I’ve always been drawing or making something, usually a mess (ask my mum!). As a grown-up crafter I’ve dabbled in card making, sewing, a little knitting (mostly squares and rectangles) and I’m learning to crochet. Sewing has been my passion for the last 6 years – since I borrowed my Mum’s sewing machine. She did get hers back when I bought my own!

My little business came about one day after I was making marmalade – I know what does sewing have to do with marmalade making? Well, I was writing the labels and decided to draw a little orange. Then I thought….’I wonder if I could make a felt orange’. So I did. My next thought was…..’wouldn’t that orange look so much better with a moustache’ and then we had Monsieur Orange! That was that. I made various other fruity faces and moved…

Then I thought….’I wonder if I could make a felt orange’. So I did. My next thought was…..’wouldn’t that orange look so much better with a moustache’ and then we had Monsieur Orange! That was that. I made various other fruity faces and moved on to Rolley Monkeys. After that there was no stopping me – I used my science background to start making some more usual items – white blood cell brooches, red blood cell brooches, amoeba brooches and smiley planets. I like to make things that make me smile and I’ve always been a bit of a nerd! :)

I’m now a Mummy, crafter and part-time secondary school science technician.

I need to point out that most of the things I have made contain small pieces, buttons, etc. so aren't suitable for small children under 36 months.

Keep all items away from heat sources and naked flames.

Since the sudden death of my dear baby sister this year I have decided to donate 10% off all sales to GUCH PA (Grown Ups Congenital Heart Patients Association).
Through GUCH PA my sister met many supportive friends with similar heart conditions to her own. People who understood how she was feeling and everything she has been going through all her life.
