Gnomes, hobbits, and other creatures inspired by fantasy and fairy tales, form the body of work by potter, Claudia Trott. The mystical creatures, ranging from four to eleven inches in height, begin as “pinch pots”. They are formed into feet, robes, hands, and bowls. Coils and bits of clay form the wrinkles, beards, and deeply socketed eyes of their faces. Colored clays and 22-carat gold and platinum decorate the robes and costumes. Gourd Jars, bowls, mugs, and boxes that have hidden lids are decorated with intricately colored porcelain and stoneware designs.
Claudia started making pottery while in high school. She attended Highline Community College and also worked as the pottery technician while learning her craft.
