I started sculpting when I was about two. According to my mom, I would steal the gray, sticky insulation caulk from windows, and play with it. I've always had hungry fingers and I'm admittedly a tactile addict.
Biology and art were my passions growing up, and still are. For a while in college I toyed with the idea of science illustration, but was discouraged when I figured out the life of the 19th century taxonomist was not realistic in this century. No HMS Beagle for me. I found Ceramics my senior year, and it won the contest with organic chem.
I got my MFA while climbing trees to reach the best grapefruit in Tempe, AZ, and learning how to make really great glazes for my work.
