Hello!
I love happy faces, and one of my goals is to create products that will encourage people to smile!! My favorite place to spend time and be inspired is in my sewing room. I enjoy finding fabrics in different colors and patterns that I can use to fashion something beautiful and original. Over the years, I have developed a particular fondness for aprons. I happen to be an avid cook and gardener, and I often end up wearing whatever it is I’m working with. Simply put, I am messy. In my quest to stay neat and clean, I started years ago to make cute aprons for myself. I have collected an assortment of holiday, seasonal and everyday aprons which I wear on a daily basis. Keeps me tidy! By the way, I also love to read, so in my quest to combine all of my activities into one product, I have incorporated pockets in the aprons, capable of holding a portable CD player with an audio book.
Now I can read and sew and move around—yes, I’m a multi-tasking gal for sure!!

My sewing passion actually originated with quilt making. I made the first quilt for my daughter twenty years ago. I thought that would be the end of that hobby. Ha--no way! I was seriously bitten by the quilting bug, so naturally--I soon had to make another one for my son! Of course, I also made one for Mom, one for myself and another for my sister, Jean. Needless to say, the list of quilt recipients has grown and grown. I have been a faithful member of the Salem UMC Quilting Circle in Virginia Beach for many years. They taught me everything I know about quilting and then some. It is a way to "paint" with fabric, and it is a great outlet for my creative spirit.

"Cousin Patty" is the nickname bestowed on me by my cousins when we were growing up. We were a close family, and we continue to provide support to one another to this day. In fact, my niece, Kaylyn, does wonderful illustrations and created the art work for my site. My aptitude with crafts definitely comes from my Mom—a wonderful baker and seamstress. She allowed us to help her around the kitchen when we were little. It tickled us to stand on a stool or chair with one of Mom's aprons tied around us while we helped stir or measure, with the old Sunbeam mixer blending the batters. After the pans were filled and placed in the oven, we got to lick the beaters! Such a pleasant memory! I like to think of the “apron” as a symbol of family unity and togetherness—like an old photograph.

My aprons are creative works of art. They are not only beautiful to look at, but they are designed to be durable and long-lasting. I place special touches on each one. Every apron is unique and different from every other, and the majority of them are reversible. I use a cotton fabric that has been prewashed—no need to worry about shrinkage!! My aprons are adjustable, and I can make them in all sizes—from petite to roomy. I enjoy matching colorful fabrics and incorporating interesting detail, making an apron that is fun to wear. In fact, while wearing a Cousin Patty apron, you might find yourself experiencing a whole new joy for cooking and baking. I'd be glad to do special orders too. If there is a particular hobby or subject that you like represented on an apron, I can locate that fabric and construct a very special apron—just for you!!
