Cheryl Carson learned to crochet as a young girl 50 years ago and has made literally thousands upon thousands of items, mostly donated to humanitarian causes. (Recently, during a three-year period, she donated 6,777 crocheted doll dresses.) Her philosophy is that her hands must never be idle, so she crochets everywhere—while riding in a car, watching TV, listening to broadcasts of her favorite teams’ basketball or football games on the radio, or while someone is reading aloud to her. Cheryl can crochet in a darkened movie theater and has been known to continue crocheting in her sleep after dozing off in her chair. After millions of stitches, it is no wonder that people tell her that she is the fastest crocheter they have ever seen, and they wonder why the yarn doesn't get singed. Cheryl and her husband Mike live in Pleasant Grove, Utah, with the youngest two of their 11 combined children. They have 15 grandchildren.
