Karen Henry's Profile

About

Karen currently lives in California with her husband, and twin children. In her spare time (ha!) she makes stuff. She thinks you should wear something sparkly every day, and creates her jewelry to help you with that! She also believes you should eat chocolate every day, but hasn't yet figured out how to make a non-melting edible chocolate necklace. She's working on it. She does often make abstract paintings with chocolate wrappers collaged into the paint however! ;)

Karen went to the University of Illinois and received a degree in Graphic Design (you know, printed stuff- book covers, posters, signage, brochures, logos, letterhead, packaging, album art) and started her career off in broadcast design at ABCNews. Karen went to the University of Illinois and received a degree in Graphic Design (you know, printed stuff- book covers, posters, signage, brochures, logos, letterhead, packaging, album art) and started her career off in broadcast design at ABCNews. Something she had never even considered. (there are graphics on the news???- YES!) She has spent the last 18 years working in broadcast in some form or another, both in the DC area and Los Angeles/San Diego. Recently however, she has decided that dark, over-AC'd rooms and impersonal computers and pixels are less than soul- satisfying or rewarding, and is moving into the loves of her childhood- Creating things with her HANDS. Her current obsessions include abstract painting (which is about as far as she can get from computers and deadlines and clients sitting behind her) and silver jewelry (oh the shiny glittery sparkly things she so adores!)

She has a deep love for: Chocolate, teensy details, Celtic music, antiques, Victorian houses, 18th Century clothing, and pretty much anything ornate, well designed, graceful, slightly wicked (?!), and whimsical.

She is fascinated by people who have found their one obsession, and fill their lives with it-
She has many obsessions, and they all feed and shape each other to make her art hers alone!
