About

I grew up in a small town in Iowa, and I'm so grateful to have grown up with family traditions of handmade items. My Grandmother taught me how to embroider things by hand, and she was always teaching my sister and me practical things like how to cook, gardening, and sewing when we were little kids. She was such a wonderful woman who spent her life serving God and the church. She always made quilts along with her fellow church women and many of them were given to new babies, and families in the church. She was such an inspiration to me, and in 2002 I bought my first sewing machine to make some baby quilts for shower gifts, using a blanket she had given me as a guide.

One day I was out shopping for fabric and saw an embroidery machine in a store and decided to buy it. I spent months teaching myself how to sew better, make custom items, and put together designs. My hobby did great, but I got to a point where I was burned out from working my Mail Carrier job 6 days a week, taking care of 2 kids and an alcoholic husband, and then some nights staying up until 2am finishing orders for people. I just had to put everything on pause. Here I am 4 years later, my sewing is better than ever, I dumped the husband, and now am married to the man of my dreams. My kids are doing great, so I decided to get business going again. This time I mean business, literally. This is not a hobby, my time is to precious to me and I would like to transition this to be my full time "job".

I specialize in minky baby blankets. I also make burp cloth and bib sets, Monogram applique shirts, and monogrammed/personalized kitchen and bath towels. If you have something in mind that you don't see in the shop just e-mail me and see if we can work it out.

I've also got more items up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/cottonwoodlane and our website at www.cottonwoodlaneshop.com
