About

My studio is on the picturesque north east coast of Scotland, which is shown on the shop banner - that's Cullen Bay. I have for sale a range of hand knitted and crocheted items, including accessories and garments, and a collection of my own original paintings.

I have been making things by hand since my early childhood. First it was drawing and painting, then 3-D cardboard modelling with old corrugated card boxes. After that I taught myself to stitch clothes for my dolls by hand, using recycled cloth from my mum's rag-bag of worn out clothes, household linens and furnishing fabrics, and I have always enjoyed making new uses of cast-off materials. I learned to knit when I was seven, and was 18 when I received my first sewing machine.

At that point a relative introduced me to the joys of dressmaking, enabling me to produce well-made and fashionable items for myself and others.

I later studied Art & Design at college as my major subject, with fine art painting and figure-drawing being my main area of expertise and interest. I have taught for most of my adult life, often only practising my textile crafts as a release from work pressures. The only times I did much knitting were when I knitted baby garments before and after my kids were born (and much larger ones as they grew older)! I have learned to design knitting, and further honed my skills in the craft, over the last ten years.

Currently, I am interested in further exploring knitting techniques, with my next target being to produce some Fair Isle and tartan items, as I love the richness of the colours.

There are no smokers or pets in my home, so you can be sure your items will be fresh and clean when you receive them. I will use suitable packaging on any delicate or fragile items to make certain you receive them in peak condition.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my shop, and thanks for looking.
