Jessica Guptill's Profile

About

Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm just turning 30 and live with my husband (married last April), our fluffy dog, Luca, and our grumpy cat, Crusty. In July, we'll be adding a little girl to the family.

My husband is equally creative, a graphic designer, motion graphics artist and filmmaker by trade. We share a workspace that is the artistic heart of our home and probably my favorite room in the house.

I was raised by my mother who is, in my opinion, a far better artist than I, as well as the source of my artistic talent. I do believe art can be genetic and hope I pass that gene on to the baby. I have always drawn, crafted, painted and printed and feel it will always be a part of my life. However, when I'm not creating or crafting, I read as much as I can, watch a lot of movies (comes with being married to a film nerd) and play a few videogames here and there…

However, when I'm not creating or crafting, I read as much as I can, watch a lot of movies (comes with being married to a film nerd) and play a few videogames here and there.

Cursive Art started as original paintings (which I still do from time to time) but became mostly a card shop when I wanted to find a way to get my art out there in a way that was affordable and useful and a bit original. Thus, I started researching into way to make my own prints, and found out about linocuts. In no time, I was carving my first one and it's only gone from there. I actually love printmaking just as much as illustration (if not more) and it's become my main medium. However, I love art in all it's forms and also often use watercolors, acrylics and chalk pastels, when not doing printmaking.
