Welcome to my first online store!

I first started sewing when I was about 11 in a 4 H class, the basic little yellow country apron which my mom still has over 40 years later! After moving to Mesa, AZ from Michigan in the mid 70's I decided to pick it up again. I then purchased my first machine in 1977 and haven't stopped since! I paid approx $600 for it, at that time it was a huge amount to me..... so I tried to come up with making something creative to help pay for it. Custom Stitchery was born and I started making pillows out of upcycled denim, years before I even knew what repurposing was all about. I still have my first denim pillow that shows my love of the Arizona mountains, deserts etc! My first art show was in 1980, I still remember how excited I was that people were actually buying my work! I continued doing shows on the weekends and was fortunate to be a "stay at home mom" to three awesome kids/now young adults! Back in the day they used to fight over who's turn it is to do the show with mom! My fellow crafters always told me how fun it was to watch my kids growing up and dragging in these huge santa bags full of pillows, so eager to help me set up and sell. They're all very creative, which is a huge blessing to me. My oldest Melissa recently opened her own Etsy shop little Hooters, my daughter Sarah has her degree in Art Education, and is now teaching Art & Design at ASU Prep Academy in Phoenix. You will see some of her work transferred to fabric in my listings, as well as my son and nieces.

I'm back to work again as a Special Ed Asst with autistic kids, but always make time in the evening for 3- 4 hours of sewing. I currently set up at the Phoenix Public Farmers Market on Saturdays, I love interacting with the customers and testing new designs with the market.

I hope you enjoy my work and I'm sure you will be very pleased with the uniqueness and durability ! Please favorite my site and check back often, listing new items weekly.
All my products are made in my smoke free home.

Thanks for browsing my site!

God Bless!!
