About

My name is Dana Huff, and I love making soap. I’m a teacher by trade, and I love to read. I decided to try my hand at making soap when I fell in love with a soap sold at the farmers’ market near my old home. I stocked up on this soap before I moved, and each time I bought it, I handled and smelled the other soaps for sale. They were so pretty and smelled so nice! And I could understand all the names of the ingredients on the list. I decided if the lady selling soap at the farmers’ market could make soap, so could I. I began researching—following soap-making sites and blogs, saving recipes on Pinterest, and reading soap-making books. I tried my first batch using a recipe in the first soap-making book I read, Elizabeth Letcavage and Patsy Buck’s Basic Soap Making.
