About

Born in the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York, as a young girl I was always drawing or painting. One day while looking for something in our garage, I came across a wooden box filled with oil paints. How I never found those gems before that day remains a mystery. The paints were old and used, but all those fabulous colors looked wonderful to me. My father told me the paints belonged to my grandmother and said I could have them. With the addition of a few more tubes of color, that was the beginning of my career as an artist. I thank God every day for giving me this gift.

A painting brings the subject to life and creating art is a way for me to share on canvas a small part of the beauty in this world around us.

I enjoy painting in several mediums including watercolor, pastel and oils, however, oils are my favorite. Using oils allows me to capture what I see because of their wonderful mixing capabilities. People often tell me they feel they are in my paintings or standing right there. That is one of the best compliments an artist can receive.

When I was in my twenties, I came across an artist painting in his studio. I decided to stop in to see his work and was overcome by the beautiful seascape he was in the process of completing. I never got his name but this unknown artist influenced the way I paint today. The play of light on subjects and scenes that carry you off into the distance as far as the eye can see fascinate me. I love painting skies and water and beautiful places. Maybe I’ll be walking down the street or riding in the car when suddenly an inspirational subject appears and I have to capture it. I never go anywhere without my sketchbook and camera to record those fleeting moments in time. If I don’t record what drew my attention to the scene in the first place, it might not be the same on a return visit.

Included in my subjects you'll find portraits of people, animals, homes, seascapes and landscapes. I'm fortunate that people enjoy my artwork which resides in the US and internationally.
