I am a jewelry artist who creates inside of a 20' yurt on an organic seed farm nestled against the Coast Range mountains in the Los Padres National Forest of Southern California.
What is a yurt? Think of a teepee, but different. Yurts have been used for thousands of years and are the traditional nomadic homes of Mongolia and the surrounding areas. Traditionally, these nomadic people took their homes with them as they traveled, taking them down and re-building them on-the-go.. Yurts are beautiful and portable eco-structures that are composed of a circular lattice frame covered with felt or fabric. They typically have wooden floors and a glass center dome. My yurt workshop is warmed with a Norwegian wood-fired stove and I love to sit at my bench sipping green tea by the fire while listening to all the amazing wildlife that frequents our farm and the surrounding mountains: owls, coyotes,…
