About

I started collecting when I was in my teens and I dragged home a very old and dilapidated barrel top trunk from a flea market that my mom and I lovingly restored together. I still have that trunk filled with keepsakes from my childhood and my children's childhood, not to mention the wonderful memories of the time we spent restoring it to its former glory.

Over the years I have picked up lots of treasures here and there, many that I still own. I find it hard to let go of many of the pieces I find. However, I finallly realized that if I can "adopt" them out to good homes, I feel better about it. (And then I can go find some more!) About

(And then I can go find some more!) My shopper's instinct tells me that if I love it, someone else probably will too.

Now it has become a favorite pastime to rescue things from thrift stores, flea markets, and the occasional dumpster or trash can and clean, paint and recycle it for someone else's enjoyment. Some I keep (for a season) and some I put up for grabs here on Etsy. My husband has gotten on board with me and has started using reclaimed wood that he has salvaged here and there to create beautiful birdhouses.

I also create mosaic pieces out of broken china, stained glass and just about anything else that can be glued down. That store (also on Etsy) is called DeepSouthArts and can be viewed here:
