About

I LOVE seaglass! It is my passion. I love finding it, wearing it, and designing with it. It speaks to me like nothing else and I never tire of its diversity and ability to touch those who wear it.
I have been a jewelry designer for over 20 years. I have a Masters degree in English but I have always been a working artist drawn to the passion of creating something out of my mind's vision.

I began making in jewelry in 1987. Formerly, I worked in clay, and my fascination with jewelry just naturally evolved. I am mostly self-taught; trial and error is always a fine teacher especially when working with precious metals.

I am always designing-my favorite part of the long process of making a piece of jewelry. I believe my energy and creative power is alive in each piece and is what the wearer can…

I believe my energy and creative power is alive in each piece and is what the wearer can feel.

I started making seaglass jewelry in 2001 when I realized my life dream of moving to the ocean. My husband and I settled on the Central Coast of California - near Hearst Castle - and every day, I hunted for seaglass. Soon after, we opened our own gallery in Cambria, Ca which was named "Destiny Gallery" since I believed it was my destiny to find the precious beachglass and transform it into jewelry.
We had the gallery for six years and them moved back to Albuqerque, NM for personal reasons.
I have continued my passion for seaglass which I collected daily while on the coast and revel in all the special pieces I collected and design jewelry which shows off the luminescence of the seaglass using my unique take.
I design daily in my studio; not only seaglass but silver designs meant to be tactile and bring pleasure to the wearer.
I love designing and hope you will love wearing my jewelry!

Warm regards, Kathie Harper
