From a recent magazine interview:Dutch born designer Jennifer has continuously taken inspiration from the important people in her life and their passions; her mother is an esteemed violinist and her father is a master gardener. One of her earliest design memories involved her grandmother sitting her down with a huge jar of buttons and some cording; at which she would spend hours stringing buttons just to take them off and re-string them again in different patterns. Jennifer began buying fabric during her extensive travels simply because she fell in love with the textures and feel high quality European fabrics have to offer. It wasn’t until her return from Spain and Portugal that she began serious study with VCC’s Fashion Arts program, graduating in 2013. Since then she has furthered her studies in London, Paris, Rome, and New York. The name de volk & gosche comes from the maiden names of her two grandmothers: de volk means “for people” and gosche means “cheeky”. Therefore, de volk & gosche is for people a little on the cheeky side. Jennifer also creates children’s clothing with a European esthetic under the name gingerbugZ on Etsy (ginger for girls, bugZ for boys). She is an avid supporter of the Because I am A Girl campaign with Plan Canada and sponsors two girls in Columbia and two girls in Botswana, She enjoys embroidery and baking, travel and the performance arts. Many of her recipes and travel experiences are on her blog. www.puddingandlace.blogspot.comwww.gingerbugz.etsy.comhtttps://www.instagram.com/devolkgosche
