About

Kerri and I started Dexterity Press 11 years ago...we do primarily letterpress work. Our press history dates back to mid-1995 - John Upchurch of Fireproof Press (Chicago), which he ran with Matt McClintock, was kind enough to hire me (an entirely unskilled pressman), and teach me how to work a Chandler & Price and a Vandercook. Diane Radford also helped me figure stuff out... as I was often a mess. Kerri and I left Chicago in 1998 and then later returned in 2000. Fireproof had downsized considerably (almost to a point of non-existence), fortunately, John had enough repress work to keep me busy. We formally opened Dexterity Press in mid-2001. Our Chicago operation changed locations 3 times, in the spring of 2010, we moved the whole thing to New Haven, which is where we are now. Our son, Leo, is an avid supporter of the shop... often operating the corner-rounder and manages paper over-flow.
