Doll Face Threads is a small independent, environmental and socially conscious creative arts company located in Hawaii. I'm dedicated to promoting and selling edgy, fun and funky treasures made by hand, not factories. I've been creating for as long as I can remember, cutting my tights to make a headband 2 minutes before I had to leave for school, making skirts out of shirts before parties, dissecting old jewelry to make it new and making bracelets out of fishing tackle. I was really never satisfied with the cookie cutter options available in big department stores I pretty much cut, dyed and reinvented most of my clothes. Thrift stores were my favorite places to shop. I love love love all things vintage and handmade. I'm currently and indefinitely having a love affair with anything and everything aqua. I think it was inevitable I would some day be sharing my vintage fetish and handmade creations with the world. I created Doll face…

I created Doll face Threads in 2003 with a love for fashion, design and creating beautiful handmade works of art. I started sewing with conventional fabrics buying from big fabric warehouses. It didn't take long working in the apparel and textile industry to discover it's negative impact on the environment and it's workers. This discovery did not sit well with me, so I did some research and looked for alternatives. First I chose to switch to fair trade and cooperatively made organic fabrics. Always an excellent choice when buying NEW! When you choose to purchase organics you eliminate the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers harming the planet and it's inhabitants. Also by shifting your spending to fair trade you help ensure that farmers and artisans all over the world receive fair wages and a healthy working environment. The importance of these two elements is immeasurable. Then I discovered what I believe is the best choice for the environment, the fabulous world of vintage and second hand. It's pure joy to hunt and uncover, revive and restore a one of a kind hidden treasure from the past. When you buy used instead of new not only do you get an amazing one of a kind piece you reduce the enormous amount of textiles filling up the landfills. In addition you help conserve the natural resources used by manufacturing new clothing. That said, I now created a unique line of eco-friendly, reconstructed, redesigned, and new vintage inspired creations. I offer the best quality and the most original designs so you can express your unique personality to make you and your little one stand out from the crowd. Whenever I can, I use fairly traded organics, cooperatively produced organics or vintage materials. No sweatshops involved! My reconstructed and redesigned pieces are made from upcycled materials, such as old t-shirts, curtains, ties, dresses, costumes, jeans and other unwanted fabric. Any new fabrics I use will be noted and whenever possible are produced without harmful pesticides or fertilizers and made with environmentally friendly water based low impact dyes. We never stop evolving as our awareness grows and we discover new ways of having a positive effect on our planet and people.
