JANEEN SHAGMAN's Profile

About

Hello, and welcome! My name is Janeen. I am married and the mother of my own fabulous four... three girls, one boy, and the grandmother of three gorgeous little girls!

I started sewing in what I call the "lean" years, when our first daughter was about two and our budget was tight! I borrowed my sister-in-laws' sewing machine, and armed with the "talents and abilities" learned in a semester of home economics, I set up shop. Well, I mean, I produced a semi-respectable pair of shorts and a halter top out of red fabric with white hearts, and a bit of white eyelet lace. Okay... so it was a questionable start, but, with time, practice, and tenacity, I began to produce some pretty snazzy stuff! By the time our fourth child arrived, I had acquired my own sewing machine, as well as an overlock machine, to control those pesky frayable fabric edges!

At about this time, I figured out that working outside the home, and paying someone else to raise my children, was counter-productive to my life-long desire to become a mom! And, so, I had an epiphany! I will work from home, sewing and selling clothing for children. I decided that casual, comfy and cute clothing was the best way to go... so off I went... for the next twelve years!
Fast forward another ten or twelve years... and here I am opening a shop on Etsy! For now, I am staying with the original theme of casual, comfy and cute.
Some of the childrens' clothing that you will find in my shop are made from the patterns and fabrics unearthed from my secret stash, which was squirreled away in the darkest recesses of my closets! You may get some "vintage" vibes, as a few of these fabrics are from the eighties and nineties! Bold prints and neon bright colors abound, or should I say they dominate!

I hope you enjoy browsing through my shop, and that you find something cute and fun for your little one!
