About

Hello, my name is Drew Kail and I enjoy making prints.

I am inspired by observations from my daily life which are parred down to the basic components of line and pattern. About

Hello, my name is Drew Kail and I enjoy making prints.

I am inspired by observations from my daily life which are parred down to the basic components of line and pattern. I manipulate the elements in each work to arrive at a more fantastical landscape from the one present to the eyes of the viewer in hopes of sparking their imagination to look at our world not only empirically, but whimsically and creatively as well. I try to keep the titles ambiguous to further the works relationship as a puzzle to be solved by the viewer in the intent that they make their own decisions as to what it is about, and come away from the experience with a new idea, old memory, or fascination.

I'm committed to the craftsmanship involved in printmaking. I make extremely limited editions of my work, because I believe the act of making and viewing art is a precious and intimate exercise not to be diluted by mass production.

My work has been shown both nationally and internationally. If you would like to learn more about my process, thoughts on making or view my resume please look at my blog:
