About

Hi I'm Jeannine Parisi the sole person behind Indigent design and here is a bit about myself.
I need to be creating interesting new things, always learning, and honing my skills. I love to learn, and spent 6 years going to college/ University of Florida, Pasco-Hernando CC and Santa-Fe CC as a science major, I was pre-vet animal science, microbiology major, but I have also taken many art classes in college, high school, and privately. I studied oil painting for a summer at the knox School on Long Island, and painted nude models, and landscapes when I was 12. I took sculpture in High school and worked with soap stone, marble, clay and wood. I worked as a tatoo artist for a few years, Ive painted art on clothing. In high school I was painting album cover denim jackets, and was commissioned to paint horse portraits for my horse show friends. I air brushed sneakers and tee shirts after high school for a few years when my son was a baby so I could work from home. I love to learn new techniques, and love to explore new mediums. I'm into tools, I collect them old and new. I Currently, I am working on building kitchen cabinets, and I am remodeling my 6th bathroom. The worst addiction I've ever had in my life is jewelry making, I made my first piece of jewelry in late 2010 and haven't stopped for a day since, I now eat, sleep, and dream thinking up my next piece although, I don't have the time or money I would like to spend on it.
Me and my boyfriend have been together since 1995 and he was was in a car accident 2003, and became a paralyzed C5-C6 Quadriplegic. I spend many hours everyday caring for him,and because there is no one else who helps care for him its more than a full time job, and exhausting much of the time.
I also care for 7 feral cats, and two domestic cats and have fostered quite a few orphaned or injured raccoons and opossums.
You can see my time to create jewelry is limited to but a few hours per day, at most. Many nights, I go without sleep just to have time to make a new piece or complete a custom order. If I don't create something at least a few times a week, I start having cravings. Ideas will build up in my head that need to get out. I am no sales person, or photographer, but I do what I can to list things in my etsy shop, although I would rather be creating new things than taking photos, and writing descriptions, so I've actually made much more than you will see in my shop as I put off new listings till I am at doctors appointments with my boyfriend so I don't waste my work time to do listings, and sometimes forget to list everything, so I have many things on my facebook page Indigent Design that you may not see in my shop and also have some things Im working on before they are finished. Please come follow me to see what I'm working on and even to preview some things before they are listed here.
I'm working very hard trying to save money to move home to Long Island, New York, where I grew up and lived untill I was 24, I miss my home. I can't imagine living the rest of my life in Florida, and although many people love it here, I'm not one of them. Moving here was the worst mistake of my life, and I dream every day of going home, but its not so easy with a quadriplegic to take a vacation let alone finish my house, sell it, and move all my supplies and animals and medical stuff to a state 18 hours drive away all by myself. I cannot afford to move back yet, I have too much responsibility on my shoulders at the moment, and need to have a safe, and accessible home, to bring my boyfriend to live, and it is very expensive in New York. I named my shop indigent design for some of my rustic pieces, and although I have a house, I need a home, the place I want to stay forever, and that isn't in Florida, I need seasons and have always loved snow. All profit from this shop goes towards an old home in the woods with a barn, work shop where I can happily spend the rest of my life, I don't know where it is but it's out there somewhere far north of Florida. If anyone reading this, has that home, and wants an artist jewelry maker, and handy- woman on their eternally grateful list. Or someone who can work with me to assist my in purchasing that house in any way please let me know, I'm very reliable, a hard worker and always give more than I get. So if you have my future home, I am not scared to remodel and will gladly repay any help I get and then some if, and when I can.
Thanks for reading and looking, I appreciate all the love here on Etsy.
