Work-From-Home Mom-Boss Satisfying Her Creative Soul

I've felt the creative drive ever since I was a kid. Buckets of sidewalk chalk provided endless hours of summer entertainment as I joined my neighborhood friends in decorating our street block with expansive chalk murals.

Once I reached the awkward middle-school years, my quiet, independent, introverted self found art class to be what I looked forward to most. As I zoned out in my happy, creative, focus, it quickly became apparent that art was something I was passionate about and did well at.

I continued developing my artistic expression through high school classes. The art classroom became my retreat from teenage clique drama. The isolated creative process suited my independent soul. Because I felt most comfortable in the art classroom, I decided that I should become an art teacher.

I studied Art and English at the University of Saskatchewan and received a Bacherlor Degree in Education. Yes, I loved art. Unfortunately, I did not like teaching. You live and learn, right?

Fast forward to now... life carried on. I'm married and have a toddler boy running around. After struggling to fit myself into a "normal" 9-5 career (like a square peg in a round hole), I accepted that I was meant for something different.

I now work from home managing the family business, and as an independent artist.

Art has remained as a hobby and small business over the years. Projects have ranged from personal experiments, gifts for friends and family, home decor accents, a couple of local gallery exhibitions, and even public wall murals.

My interests and art mediums vary over time, because the blessing/curse of the creative spirit is always looking to try something new. Acrylic and watercolor painting, charcoal and pencil drawing, along with hand-lettering are just a few of my favorite tools.

Common themes in my creations reflect the things I love: nature, health & fitness, wine... the beauty of daily life is my inspiration. Daily life is full of inspiration that others can relate to - which is why I love sharing my creations with you.
